Swizz+Alicia+Mashonda=Twitter Triangle

Ugh! This hurts me to my heart! But ugh *clutches chest* I can't believe that this is truly what the love between two of my most favorite artists has become. I just had to speak on it. To quote Swizz I am "gossiping about things [I] know nothing about" but I decided to do it since it's a perfect triangle that relates to us women. I had a great conversation about it via a friend on Twitter who has the complete opposite opinion as I do. And thus I was motivated to write this blog.

As a Twitter freakazoid I actually responded to Alicia Keys tweet: “Having a heated debate n the studio. Question is…N love is it better to go 4 the choice that is ‘SMART’ or the choice that has ‘SPARK’??” I responded something along the lines "I'm looking for SMART but still miss my SPARK" and I'm sure there was a emoticon somewhere in that tweet as well. If you follow my blog you know that I have a constant thing for my very first love that I can't seem to shake. But it just never seems to work with us. Well, that little tweet from Keys ignited a plethora of feelings for Mashonda, Swizz Beatz's wife. (Read the letter here http://www.rap-up.com/2009/09/26/mashondas-open-letter-to-alicia-keys/ )

If you've been living under a rock, you may not know that my favorite celebrity Swizz Beatz and my favorite singer Alicia Keys have been keeping their relationship under wraps for about two years. As Swizz seeks divorce Mashonda stated from the jump that she had no idea her marriage was in trouble and that Keys had been the cause of the demise of her marriage. When I first caught wind of the drama I was happy for Swizz. I mean Alicia Keys is beautiful, talented, a strong, creative woman. I think men should be paired with women who mirror their intangible traits. That makes for stronger bonds and better understanding. I wanted Swizz to be happy and since apparently Keys isn't a lesbian I thought she was the perfect fit for a talented and artisitc indivual as Swizz. I remembered saying that Mashonda wasn't handling her wifely duties and must have been preoccupied to not know the marriage was in trouble. I put the blame on her. I even laughed when Swizz commented that it wasn't a big deal "people get divorced every fuckin day." That was before I got Mashonda's story.

Now I'm deflated and disappointed at both Swizz and Alicia. I truly had no idea that Mashonda had just had a child and I did not know that she wanted to try and hold on to her husband and her marriage. I never really thought about what it means to take vows and to have them challenged. Aren't you supposed to try and work it out? I think she has every right to be bitter. I think she has every right to lash out. Do I think it's appropriate to do it on Twitter? Maybe not but I'm glad she had the guts to say "You stole my husband but because I'm the mother of his child we have to come to some understanding."

In conclusion-just between us girls-when do we let the guilty take the blame? I'd be a hypocrite if I let Swizz off the hook in this whole thing. One thing I always say is married men are a complete turn off for me. I try and respect my fellow female by not approaching what is clearly out of reach. What makes another woman disregard that wedding ring I will never know. It's not like she just slept with him either. She stole him. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad to think about. Alicia Keys saw what she wanted and went after it. My heart wants to believe she tried to say no but the "sparks" were just to much to overcome. Now I don't believe for one second that Mashonda should be to blame for this whole thing. We can rationalize why Swizz cheated but we can't pretend that marriage is all sunshine and rainbows. When you get married you're supposed to work through problems, keep your eye on your spouse, focus on keeping that bond that wanted to you promise your life to another in the first place. Celebrities are human and that's so clear from this situation. We can learn from them, relate to them, and hopefully avoid making the same mistakes. Ladies, let's be true to ourselves, each other, and then the men. Because like I say-we let men get away with so much.

Vegetarian Mindset: No Beef

Yes, my friends--another Twitter related blog. If you need an update on what Twitter is read my first blog post ever. And then crawl out from under that rock.

I have had the chance to do some great networking because of Twitter and I have been able to give the people that sorta/kinda knew me a better insight into who I am--an insomniac who thinks deeply, inspires easily, and trips and falls frequently. (No really. I can't walk without tripping.) And in turn, I have also had the chance to get to know people I never really knew that well. And I love that. I love making new friends. I love people. Don't know where that came from but I genuinely love people in general. Maybe its the idea that we really all are one and our differences are only barriers in our own minds.

This is getting deeper than I planned.

The point is I realized this morning that I don't have any beef with any female. Not one girl I know is a girl that I hate. I don't know about the other way around but I'm pretty confident no girl has beef with me. Being on Twitter has allowed me to see that girls are catty. I go out with my girls and I say "Hey, that's my friend from Twitter" and I get told "Oh, I hate that girl. She's fake/she's a hoe/she's a bitch" and my loyalty to my friend is silently questioned. Of course I'm not gonna go up to the girl and talk to her after that. But in my mind I'm like: "She's a friend to me till she does something to me personally." Or till she does something to one of my friends that's not related to a guy.

In conclusion--between us girls--why is that we as women always let a man come between us? I arrived home from the club last night to two police cars at my friends complex where the cop described it as "ten girls fighting over one guy." Heard homie has a regular girl but has another on the side who stays with him a week per month and pays his bills while she's in town. Not to mention him tryna sweet talk my girls all the time--even me. And apparently some girls he's messed with were out at the club and started beef with my girls. I say that's karma for his ass but why didn't any of those women realize that HE was the issue and not the other girls? I'll never understand that. If you find yourself at constant odds with another female over a man shouldn't you take a look at the situation a little more closely? I'm just saying--men are rarely worth the drama. Get the "vegetarian mindset" with me ladies.

Twitter is taking over my life!

Of all the things I could choose to blog about first--I chose Twitter. What is Twitter you may ask? If you don't know what Twitter is and you are between the ages of 18 and 34 you definately aren't as hip as you think you are. Its this simple online update thingy that Myspace and Facebook couldn't seem to make cool enough. So this guy decides to run with it. Basically you can tell anyone who thinks you're worth following (sorry for the jargon but it's your fault if you really need this explanation) what exactly you are doing, what you are planning to do, what you are thinking at the moment, what cool things people you are following are doing, and even show pictures and videos and bubbletweets--so much fun! It's friggin ADDICTING--and i'm not even a celebrity lol.

I follow my favorite celebs like the Kardashians and Swizz Beatz to pretty much just be all up in their business. That's it. I admit it--that's why I love Twitter. I mean it's a long hard road to getting a respectable amount of followers so it's worth having people up in your business but if you're a celeb--its nothing. So unfair. I have been on Twitter for almost a month (@DivaGlamFam if you wanted to know) and I'm barely pushing 100 followers. Hopefully that will change so I can get some responses to my questions (again, you wouldn't understand if you didn't have an account.)

Now on to what I HATE. Well it's a love/hate thing. I have UberTwitter on my Blackberry and it really is so convenient. I wasn't able to watch the Magic beat the Celtics tonight but I felt like I was there because I had constant updates from people I'm following. I can not only send my updates but I can retweet which is something I haven't figured out how to do on my laptop yet. I can see pictures instantly and I also get a highlighted list of tweets mentioning @DivaGlamFam (me people.) But I absolutely HATE the fact that everytime I get an update my phone is alerted. Its like they set it to default and update directly. Someone tell me how to make it stop! I can't even have my phone on anything but vibrate anymore and I am missing important calls and texts because I hate rushing to the phone and it's just Twitter letting me know that @djprostyle is on patron for the night.

If you don't have a Twitter account, you can't understand the importance of instantly reaching an audience. I can tell who knows how to use Twitter. The Kardashian sisters are a good example: always promoting themselves without seeming like they are. They invite people to come see them at events or tune in to see them on TV because they know their followers love them. And that love translates to dollars. Women after my own heart.

In closing--between us girls--get "Twit it!" The newer Twitter is, the easier it is to reach out to people. It's like Myspace and Facebook. It will get old and when that happens everyone will have a Twitter account. Your message will get lost in the shuffle. Promote your business or talent now while the iron is hot. Be bold and get ahead of the curve. Besides it's free and takes nothing but a picture and a headline. You may learn some interesting things about your favorite celeb or you may turn into a celeb. Stranger things have happened...
